1. The New Zealand Constitutional Crisis of 1984 (1996)

This clip from NZ On Screen is from the four-part 1996 series Revolution, which mapped sweeping social and economic change in New Zealand society in the 1980s and early 1990s. This clip includes interviews with key political and business figures during the financial and constitutional crisis of 1984. The full documentary can be viewed on the NZ On Screen website.

8th December 2010: Deputy Prime Minister Bill English and Māori Affairs Minister Pita Sharples announce a significant and wide-ranging cross-party constitutional review.

Mai Chen, a founding partner of Chen Palmer New Zealand Public Law and author of the Public Law Toolbox, spoke at StrategyNZ on the need for long-term thinking in our public law arrangements.


4. Sir Mason Durie speaking at StrategyNZ: Mapping our Future (March 2011)

Sir Mason Durie is the former Massey University Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Assistant Vice-Chancellor Māori and Pasifika, and an expert in Māori health.  He spoke at StrategyNZ about the history of Māori-Pākehā relations in New Zealand, and what it means for the future. He also talked about the constitutional review and the conversations that will surround it.


5. Australian Civics & Heritage Foundation (AusCivics) clip from The West Wing, Re-writing a constitution for the Republic of Belarus, Season 6, Episode 14 (October 2010)

This clip from hit American TV show The West Wing shows the fictional White House Communications director Toby Ziegler attempt to help a Belarusian delegation re-write their constitution. This clip was put together by the Australian Civics & Heritage Foundation and has a number of interesting analytic questions at the end for viewers to consider.
